Life's Purpose. Learn it.

"The powerful motivator in our lives isn't money; it's the opportunity to learn, grow in responsibilities, contribute to others, and be recognized for achievements."
                                               -Frederick Herzberg
Lessons Learned:

I have been pondering this week about my core values and deconstructing my fears about starting my own business. It has been so interesting! I have learned this week that my fears are all based around what others will think of me. I have four daughters. I preach to them about how it doesn't matter what others think of us. They're so strong and good! I see them do things that I never would have dared. My girls must believe it more than I do! I'm a good preacher, but maybe not a good student.

Some of my core values are optimism, health, kindness, generosity, family-oriented, and patience. I want to develop these further. I have a plan for how I'm going to do it and I am excited at who I can become!

In our reading this week I learned from Clayton M. Christensen that we need a Life Purpose and if we don't already know what it is then we need to learn it! Once we have done the work to learn our life's purpose, we need to keep it front and center. That reminded me of President Nelson's guidance to us to "Think Celestial" in general conference over this past weekend.

Lesson Not Yet Learned:

The discovery of my core values offers some guidance on my life's purpose, but I still don't know it yet. I need to keep doing the work to discover it. I will reread my patriarchal blessing, go back to my holy ground, review my core values, and maybe I'll even apply what Tom Kelley suggested in a speech at Stanford where I'll track my days over time so I can look back over them and see what activities and experiences brought me pure joy and notice a pattern so I can see more clearly what my life's purpose is- or at least what I should focus on for now.

Life is good. God is good.
