This is the beginning of a new semester, a new class, and a new blog. I plan to post at least weekly about what I am learning in my Intro to Entrepreneurship class, BUS 110.
Lessons Learned:
As an introduction to this class we read several articles and watched several videos. I most enjoyed Elder David A. Bednar’s speech at a BYU-I devotional titled, “Your Whole Souls as an Offering Unto Him.” I have listened to this one before, but it was so good to hear again and to be reminded of the gift that it is to be a student and the responsibility that comes with this blessing.
He suggests looking at Doctrine and Covenants 4:2 and considering “might” being descriptive of the heart and “strength” as a descriptor for mind. A mighty heart equals faithfulness and spiritual strength. A strong mind is intellectual diligence and discipline. As we serve God with a mighty heart and strong mind we will not only be willing to offer sacrifice for the building of the kingdom, but our sacrifices will be consecrated for this purpose.
Lessons Not Yet Learned:
I don’t even know what I don’t know yet. One concern that I do have going into this class is that I don’t know what I have to offer the world as an entrepreneur. I am interested in it and want to be and do it, but what can I give? What do I bring to the table? I hope that this class will help me see and find the answer to that.
